AAPT WM18 San Diego

PTRAs were deeply involved in the AAPT WM18 in San Diego, January 6-9, 2018.  PTRAs led multiple sessions and workshops in addition to their service on committees.  Thank you to all the PTRAs who came and made the AAPT meeting successful for members of the K-12 community!

Baltimore Bootcamp

From Seed to Tree, How Can That Be? John Hopkins University hosted a bootcamp for teachers and leaders of Baltimore ISD June 19-23 to learn about STEM, best practices, inquiry, and techniques to be successful in working with adults. http://aaptptra.com/maryland-2017/

Central PA

CAST 2016

PTRA 2016

The summer 2016 leadership institute was held at the PASCO headquarters. The focus was on NGSS implementation and engineering applications in the classroom.

Central PA

Central Pennsylvania AAPT Section provides workshops to their local members several times a year.  On April 8 the workshop focused on Rockets and Engineering Design.

West Georgia

FullSizeRender(1)The University of West Georgia has set a high bar when it come to effective professional development for elementary and middle school teachers.  There are so many wanting to go that they have increased the number of attendees each year and there is still a waiting list.

30 Year Celebration

PTRA began in 1985 with the mission of improving the teaching and learning of physics and physical science for all teachers and students in the United States. AAPT/PTRA is the leading in-service physics professional development program and has touched the lives of thousands of teachers and countless students. PTRA owes its success to many people and partners including PASCO and Vernier. THANK YOU for your continued support of PTRA and all you have done to support physics teachers.

 

 

Quantum Experts

Well, maybe not experts, but four PTRAs know more now than they did before they went to the Perimeter Institute in Waterloo, Canada in July.  A week of learning about quantum physics made us realize how much we did not know and how much scientists still have to learn.  CERN is next on my bucket list!

SMITE 2014 Univ. W. Georgia

The University of West Georgia Physics Department hosted 90 teachers in grades 3-12 at a STEM institute June 9-20, 2014.   For more pictures go to the workshop page or #physicsfun2014
